Philly Cheesesteak Donut (Vegan)

When I saw this creation on Thrillist, I knew I had to make a vegan version. And so glad I did. These are the most delicious savory stuffed donuts. This recipe makes 4 large donuts, with a little extra filling to snack on. Check out the recipe video below.

Ingredients

12-16 oz of vegan friendly ground meat

1/2 onion, diced

1 green bell pepper diced

Salt and Pepper

8 slices of Vegan Provolone Cheese

1 can of Vegan Friendly Biscuit Dough

Vegetable Oil for Frying

Directions

In a large pan add a little oil and heat to medium high

Add in your onion and cook until translucent

Add in your bell pepper and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes

Move onion and pepper to the side of your pan

Add in your vegan ground meat

Cook until browned and then mix in your onion and bell peppers

Cut 4 slices of cheese into fours

Add into you meat and onion mix

Cook until melted

Turn off heat

Remove meat mix from pan and let cool

Using a rolling pin flatted our your biscuit dough to form medium-large disks

Add a large spoonful of your meat and onion mix to the center of four disks

Place the remaining four disks on top and press edges to seal to form a round disk/donut

Heat oil in a pan, enough to cover half of your donut disks

Once oil is hot

Place your donuts into the hot oil

Fry on each side for 3-5 minutes until golden Remove from oil and place onto wire rack to drain

Preheat oven to 400

Place remaining sliced cheese on top of your four donuts

Place into oven until cheese slices have melted

Remove and let cool slightly

Serve and enjoy!
