"Raised on Meat, now watch me-eat!"

What began as a challenge turned into a lifestyle and I have never felt better!  I was raised by a Texan family so it was only natural for me to be introduced to meat early. Needless to say, I took onto it very easily. Shortly my nickname became carnivore. I was always the girl that skipped the carbs and went right for the protein, indulging in chicken, beef and the occasional fish. Not to mention the weekly gatherings that involved cheese, crackers and more cheese. Never could I have imagined myself as a vegan, but here I am…

It just seemed like the right thing to do in my life. Especially since childhood, I have always been obsessed with animals, finding myself emotionally attached to every animal on the street and in movies. My dogs were my best friends. I would cry even if I had to leave them for a few hours.  I always pictured myself growing up, buying tons of land and saving every animal I possibly could. It wasn’t until a few years ago that my heart connected the two beings, meat and animals. That is when it hit me, “how could I love animals so much yet eat them?” It was time to make a change!

Being Vegan doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy food, because I still live for food. I enjoy all types of food from sweet, savory, salty and spicy. I’ve always loved being in the kitchen, spending my leisurely time experimenting with different recipes.  Since becoming vegan I have really enjoyed transforming traditional recipes into vegan versions. Coming from someone who ate meat and cheese my whole life, I try to make my dishes taste as close to the real thing as possible. I spoil my family and friends with the vegan dishes I create and it brings me great pleasure to be able to share these amazing recipes with you, they’re too good not to share. Turning Carnivores into Vegans, one dish at a time.

Enjoy.
