BBQ Chicken Braid



A delicious appetizer or main dish. Using easy store bought pizza dough, filled with vegan BBQ chicken and cheese, bake to perfection and topped with vegan ranch and a green garnish!


Ingredients

1 pillsbury square pizza dough, or pastry sheet

6-8oz vegan chicken pieces, cooked

Roughly 1 cup of bbq sauce

1 1/2 cups of Vegan Cheese

1/4 cup of pickled red onions, recipe below

Vegan Ranch

Cilantro



Directions

Preheat oven to 400

Lay your pizza dough onto greased baking sheet

Using a sharp knife

Make cuts on each long side of your rectangle, roughly 1 inch apart

Leaving the center uncut for your filling

Place your chicken and cheese mixture into the center

Starting at the top fold cuts at an angle to meet in the center, slightly pinching edges to seal

Repeat all the way down until all cut strips are wrapped

Carefully tighten your braid loaf

Brush the top of loaf with a little vegetable oil

Drizzle with remaining bbq sauce

Place into oven and bake for 18-20 minutes until golden

Remove and let cool 5 minutes

If you're going to use a different platter to serve transfer load to your platter

Drizzle top with ranch and garnish with fresh cilantro

Serve and enjoy!







Pickled red onions


Ingredients

1 red onion sliced

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp white sugar

Pinch of salt

1 cup hot water


Directions

Place your onions inside a jar with lid

In a medium bowl whisk together remaining ingredients

Whisk until sugar is dissolved

Pour over onions into jar Making sure onions are submerged

Cover and let sit for one hour

Use after 1-2 hours or refrigerate until ready to use
