Caramelized Onion and Bacon Crostini (Vegan)

This Crostini is topped with Vegan Smoked Gouda and baked until the cheese is melted and bread is golden, then topped with the most delicious mix of caramelized onions and crispy vegan bacon!


2 sweet onions, sliced thin

2 tbsps of vegetable oil

Pinch of sugar pinch of salt

Roughly 8 Vegan Bacon slices, cooked and chopped into small pieces (We used All Vegetarian Inc)

Vegan Smoked Gouda Slices, we used Follow Your Heart

Olive Oil

French Baguette

Chives, for garnish


In a large saute pan add your oil and heat to medium high heat

Add in your onion and saute until golden, turning often

Add in your salt and sugar and continue to cook until caramelized

Remove from heat

Preheat oven to 375

Slice your baguette into roughly 1/2 inch slices

Brush each side your bread slices with olive oil

Place onto prepare baking sheet

Fold your cheese slices into size of your bread

Place on top of bread

Mix together you caramelized onions and chopped bacon

Mix well

Top each now with your onion and bacon mix

Place into oven and bake until cheese has melted, roughly 5 minutes

Remove bread from oven when melted

Sprinkle with chives

Serve and enjoy!
