Vegan Chopped Cheese


16-20oz of Vegan Ground Meat

1 small onion, thinly sliced

2 tbsps vegan butter

4 hoagie buns

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

8 slices of Vegan cheese

Vegan Mayo

Shredded iceberg lettuce

Tomato cut into thin slices


Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat

Add in 1 tbsp of butter

Once melted add in your buns to toast the inside

Once toasted remove and repeat with remaining buns

Add remaining butter and onion to pan, sear about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally until they begin to get transparent.

Move onions to sides of the pan

Add in your Vegan ground meat to other side of pan

Press down to form one large burger

Brown without breaking it up.

Season uncooked side with salt and pepper

Sear for roughly 3-4 minutes, flip to brown second side, 2 minutes

Once its almost cooked, chop up ground meat with a spatula while working onions into meat mixture (about 3 minutes).

Once cooked, divide ground meat and onion mixture into 4 even portions while still in pan

Add 2 slices of cheese to each portion

Add a little water to the pan

Cover to allow cheese to melt

Once cheese has melted remove from heat

Spread the inside of your buns with vegan mayo

Add meat, onion and cheese

top with lettuce and tomato.

Add top bun

Serve and enjoy!
