A delicious hearty savory breakfast with vegan sausage, biscuits and gravy. Every bite is perfect.
Ingredients
14oz vegan ground sausage
16oz canned vegan friendly biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
2-3 tbsp flour
3-4 cups non dairy milk, plus 1/2 cup
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1/2 cup just vegan liquid egg
1/2 cup vegan cheese shreds
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
Salt and pepper
Chopped chives for garnish
Directions
Preheat oven to 375
Heat a little oil in a large skillet over medium heat
Crumble in your sausage
Once browned sprinkle in your flour
Mix Slowly pour in your milk, one cup at a time stirring well as you do
Roughly 3 cups of milk total
Cook until thickened, add in more milk if too thick
Turn off heat
Add in your nutritional yeast and season with salt and pepper
Set aside to cool and thicken
Cut each biscuit into fours
Place pieces into a greased casserole dish
Set aside
In a medium bowl add your vegan egg, 1/2 cup non dairy milk and cheese
Add in your garlic powder and paprika
Season with salt and pepper
Whisk well
Pour over your biscuit pieces
Add spoonful's of sausage mix evenly on top
Bake in preheated oven until golden, roughly 45-60 minutes
Remove when golden and cooked throughout
Garnish with chives
Serve and enjoy!
This was SO good!! And a bit more interesting, and yet less complicated, than most vegan breakfast casserole recipes I’ve seen. This will become a regular for me. I ended up using only about 2 cups of milk in the gravy and instead went with 3/4 cup each of Just egg and milk for the custard. It came out really great and leftovers were even better the next day.
I’ve made this no less than 5 times. My family LOVES it!
